- Previous Minute
Our previous minute was accepted.
- Head Teacher Report
PO gave a staffing update – we have welcomed Lyana Abraham to our Maths department. This still leaves a vacancy within the department, but it was felt the calibre of the candidates for this post were not as we would want so we have managed to backfill internally. We have a similar situation in English. PO is already looking ahead to August 2026 to ensure we are in a better position.
Following the recommendation from AM, we will purchase the Achieve App. This will be available for all staff.
Our senior leaders have been doing a lot of work preparing for a possible HMIe Inspection. Our QIO visited 2 weeks ago, and we have also invited Head Teacher’s from local schools to come in to allow our DHTs to deliver presentations to them on their areas of responsibility.
- Parental Communication
Following a huge increase in incidents whereby parents are extremely rude to our Office Colleagues PO is keen to let those parents know this is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. He shared a letter he plans to issue. Discussion ensued with the parent council expressing concern over this letter being issued to all families. They feel it should be only directed at the culprits. PO agreed to give this more thought.
PK suggested putting signs on the fence at the edge of the entrance path to remind everyone of acceptable behaviours.
In the meantime, we have introduced a message which is heard when you phone in to the school reminding people to be polite and respectful.
- AOCB
Wallacewell Primary School
Paul Sweeney raised in Parliament the issues these young people are experiencing in relation to safe travel from their home in Robroyston to Smithycroft. We will await the outcome of this.
Sanitary Bins
Concern was raised over the fact that there is not a sanitary bin in every cubicle. NY will raise this with the Education Department.
Update: JT confirmed that in the main female toilets there are 22 cubicles with 12 sanitary bins. She also confirmed sanitary bins were available in all of the accessible toilets too.
