  1. GCC Quality Improvement Officer – Kathryn Farrow

Kathryn Farrow was warmly welcomed to the meeting.  She was keen to visit to find out how we are managing to have such an active and supportive parent council and stated we were a shining example of a Parent Council and she is very impressed.

Discussion ensued with NY explaining how we operate and KF asking questions.

She went on to explain the Chair of the Glasgow City Council Parent Group is about to resign and is aware she will need to drive this forward.  She asked what training we would like to see offered by them.  We suggested; What a Parent Council looks like – Back to Basics, Parent Council Transitions and Best Practice.

  1. AGM

Lorraine McConway : Vice Chair : EMacL proposed, and LC seconded.

  1. Vision, Values & Aims

Rebeca Long, DHT, was warmly welcomed to the meeting.

RL gave a Power Point presentation on where we are in terms of the above.  She went on to explain that when we last consulted on our Vision, Values and Aims our current pupils have not yet joined us so it was definitely time for a review.

During May and June a consultation was carried out with young people.  RL gave an overview of their responses.  In October staff were consulted.  RL also gave an overview of their responses which mirrored those of our young people.

Our S1 parents were consulted at the recent S1 Parents’ Evening.  This consultation was carried out by our Head Students who will attend all of our Parents’ Evenings to ensure we have the thoughts of as many parents as possible.  To encourage parents to participate it was suggested entering their responses into a Prize Draw.

The intention is for our new Vision, Values and Aims to be launched at our In-Service in May.  The document will be presented to the Parent Council before then.

  1. Parent Communication

PO will look at what we have put out to staff and will share a condensed report with parents.   This will be posted on the website.

  1. Bank Account

This will be carried over to our next meeting.
