In writing, they can independently write, review and improve longer pieces of work on a topic. Their writing is clear, detailed and accurate. They can confidently express their opinions and explain their
reasons using a wide range of language.
Level 3 Progress 3
In reading, your young person can understand the main ideas and most of the details in more challenging texts. They can use different ways to work out unfamiliar words, such as looking at how words are formed, how sentences are structured and clues from the surrounding text.
In writing, they can write and adapt longer pieces of work on a topic. Their writing is organised, clear and generally accurate. They can express opinions and support them with clear reasons using familiar language and sentence structures.

In reading, your young person can understand the main ideas and some details in texts. They can use simple ways to work out meaning, such as recognising similar words and using clues from the text.
In writing, they can write basic information on familiar topics and make simple changes to improve their work. They can present short pieces of writing with some support. They can share opinions and give simple reasons using familiar language.
